Feeding the Hungry A Food Distribution Project Feeding the hungry is a primary mission of Serving Hands International. Working through agencies in Tijuana, Mexico, and San Diego, California, we provide daily meals and biweekly groceries for over 3,500 people who might otherwise go without food. Serving Hands International provides low-priced but nutritional food items—primarily milk, oatmeal, eggs, flour, beans, rice, sugar, vegetables, and fruit. We purchase products in the area served to ensure that the community receives the benefit of our commerce and they distribute the food directly to our specified agencies. Some of the agencies through which Serving Hands International distributes food are the San Francis Hospital, the San Eugenio Community Clinic, the C.P.S. Esperanza Clinic, the House of the Poor (Casa de Los Pobres), the City of Mercy (Ciudad de la Misericordia), Orphanage of the Trinitarians of Mary, and Missionaries of Charity (at five locations): La Central Men's Shelter, La Postal Rest Home for Women, El Florido Childcare Center, and Missionaries of Charity Fathers. You Can Help Beans = 100 lbs. Rice = 100 lbs. Flour = 200 lbs. Oatmeal = 45 lbs. A monthly contribution can have a major impact in helping to feed the hungry. The following budget is based on distributing $375,000 worth of food during 2004. Donors may be assured that 100% of their donation, along with a dollar for dollar match (up to a total of $1.5 million annually) is used solely for charitable projects. The organization's administration and overhead are covered by a separate Foundation.
