About Us

Serving Hands International (SHI) was established in 1982 as a nonprofit, public 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to eradicating poverty in areas of the world.

At its inception, SHI committed itself to a path unusual among charities, namely, that 100% of all funds donated to the organization would be passed on to help those in need. To make this plan a reality, a family foundation pledged to pay all administrative costs associated with implementing, growing and sustaining SHI. Now, over twenty-five years later, this pledge holds true.

Early outreach programs by SHI included blanket and food distribution in Tijuana, Mexico. Today, SHI provides support all over the world in the areas of food distribution, housing, medical aid and education.

Guided by values often found in a large, close family and by the acumen of successful business people, Serving Hands International continues to expand its mission to help the poor gain self-sufficiency, dignity and hope by assisting them with basic needs, medical assistance and opportunities for education.
